REMastered Sleep Water Bottle Review

While visiting a physical therapist with my wife, the conversation turned to my snoring. “He snores bad.” my wife unapologetically said.

The therapist began citing reasons for snoring and ways to improve it. One of them is to start trying to breath more through the nose. Most snorers are mouth breathers (like myself). She also mentioned a new product she had become aware of that was having good success.

“It’s a water bottle. All you have to do is drink through it every day.”

“A water bottle?” I said, surprised.

Intrigued by the idea, I went home and investigated the product online. The therapist said it was a company started by a University of Minnesota student who discovered a study that playing the didgeridoo helped to reduce people’s snoring / sleep apnea.

That student, Anders Olmanson, began looking at ways to replicate this by strengthening the muscles in the throat and mouth. One of the main issues with snoring is the tongue falling back into the throat, cutting off breathing. Olmanson soon stumbled upon the use of a re-usable water bottle with a specialized nozzle to help facilitate strengthening these muscles.

After product tests and trials, Olmanson and his team discovered it was helping people get better sleep and reduce their snoring.

REMastered Sleep reports that 93% of people who have used the water bottle, reported reduced snoring, and 34% saying their “daytime tiredness” was also improved. I found these stats amazing.

Testing out the REMastered Sleep water bottle

I have history of sleep apnea. I’ve used a CPAP machine for several years, early on in my marriage. It had been effective at getting me better sleep, but it was a hassle to have on at night and to keep maintained. After some time, I managed to lose some weight and I felt I would be okay not using the machine.

Several years later however, I began annoying my wife with my snoring. It got so bad that last year, I actually started to sleep on the couch. Needless to say, I have been looking for a solution to reduce my snoring and get better sleep (and did not want to go back to the CPAP).

Intrigued by the REMastered Sleep water bottle, I ordered one from their website and soon received it in the mail. There is some “sticker shock” with the bottle – as the total price was almost $60 including shipping and taxes. But, I thought if it could deliver on its promise, it would be worth the money.

The order came with the bottle, instructions, and a cleaner for the nozzle and straw. It has a handy top and is very easy to get it assembled and using it. They want users to drink 2-3 bottles of water per day and cite one can begin experiencing relief from snoring and better sleep weeks to months after use.

Since I was no longer sleeping in the same bed as my wife, I needed to somehow measure the effectiveness of the bottle. I started to record my snoring after a couple of weeks use and noticed some minor improvement in my feeling more rested.

After a month or so, it seemed to be even better. And after two and a half months from starting use, I recorded almost no snoring episodes during a 5 hour period. I’m also experiencing less tiredness during the day.

To say I am surprised about the results from using the water bottle would be an understatement. I didn’t think it would work as well as it has. I mean, it is only a water bottle!

If you are currently struggling with snoring, I would recommend giving the bottle a try. At the least it is only an initial $60 investment that may lead you to better sleep and a happier (less annoyed) spouse.

I’d love to hear if you’ve had any experience with the REMastered Sleep bottle.

Hi Peter. Well, I haven’t really held up my end of the bargain and gained some weight back (which tends to worsen apnea). It’s not a lot – but am still snoring, though not as bad as when I was using a CPAP. I also haven’t used the bottle for about 1 year. It does require discipline and did use for quite awhile. I did see good results when I was using.

I bought one and the water bottle is not designed to be leak proof, which means i can’t carry it around with me during the day. This makes it much less usable. It’s really annoying

Hi Alexandra. That is one issue about the nozzle. Mine does have a cap that I snap on and then “fold over” the nozzle when it is covered. That helps leakage a bit, but not foolproof.

Is there anything about the bottle that’s special, or just the straw. In other words, can you use the straw kit in other water bottles?

    • Aaron says:

Hi Amy. The straw mouthpiece is the significant feature of the bottle, but to use it correctly, you need to drink out of it in a particular way (using your tongue to push up and against it, which strengthens the muscles in your throat). That piece attaches to the straw that goes into the bottle / and is designed to fit on the bottle cover. So, while you could just purchase the mouthpiece and straw and use it with any bottle, it probably would be a little clumsy.

Hi Bonnie. I would connect with REMasteredSleep directly, but I’ve put it in the dishwasher to clean. Vinegar, hot water probably a good solution too.
